Flatshare DescriptionHi there
Im looking for a friendly person to share my lovely flat in Bethnal Green. It could be a short let (minimum three months or so) or long term. The price is 715 all inclusive.
The room is the one with beautiful blue walls in the photos. Its fully furnished, with double bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers, mirror, chair and built-in wardrobe. I can supply bedding and towels too if youre coming from overseas. It is 4.1 x 2.6m and has a great view out over the City.
The whole flat is bright and airy, on the fourth and fifth storeys of an ex-council block. We have a well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and a separate living / dining room with a small balcony. There is no TV but there is an HD projector and fibre broadband for watching stuff on the wall.
Youd be sharing with me, a playwright, British, male, 44 years old. My girlfriend also stays over a few nights a week.
There are a lot of books in the house. I'm into the arts and I'm a current affairs addict. I get the New Yorker and the Economist every week. I'm often out in the evenings. (Socialising / going to the theatre.) I enjoy cooking and from time to time I host dinner parties.
It would be great to have a tenant who shares at least some of those interests, someone with their own busy life but who is also fun to chat to of an evening.
Columbia Road Flower Market, Shoreditch, Brick Lane, Old Street, Victoria Park and Broadway Market are 3 to 15 minutes walk away. Theres a big 24-hour Tesco almost next door.
Its 8 minutes walk to Bethnal Green tube and 12 minutes to Shoreditch High Street and Whitechapel stations. There's a locked bike shelter by the entrance to the building.
Other things: (1) No couples, sorry. (2) Im vegetarian. You dont need to be, but Id ask you not to bring meat / fish into the house. (3) As I work quite a lot at home, I'd prefer a flatmate who doesn't, but this is not an absolute requirement.
The rent is 715 including all bills Council Tax, utilities, fast fibre broadband, service charge, etc - and a weekly cleaner. Short lets are possible. Months rent as deposit.
Do say a bit about yourself when you get in touch.
PS: Historical and literary notes on the area:
1 Bethnal Green is where Bill Sykes lives in Oliver Twist. It was also the home turf of the Kray twins, notorious East End gangsters of the 1950s and 1960s. The area is now *much* safer.
2 The first ever public housing estate built in Britain (the Boundary Estate) is nearby.
3 'The Theatre', the first purpose-built theatre in Britain since Roman times and the place where many of Shakespeare's early plays, such as Romeo and Juliet and Richard 3, were likely first performed, once stood about 15 minutes walk from here, on the corner of New Inn Yard and Curtain Road. Unfortunately the site is now occupied by a branch of Foxtons.
